“By 2015, widgets will surpass portlets as the most prevalent portal component model,” Gartner.
We are pleased to announce that Backbase has once again been included in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Horizontal Portals. Named to the Visionary Quadrant for 2011 we consider this to be a confirmation of all our hard work over the last year to improve our products as well as a nod to our success at delivering a superior, end-to-end, portal solution to our customers.
Backbase differentiates itself in the industry with a lean portal solution that is based on widgets and Web Oriented Architecture. Customers praise its quick deployment capabilities and its ability to enable easy portal management by e-business professionals.
Importantly, widgets are playing an ever more crucial role in the market according to the report. “By 2015, widgets will surpass portlets as the most prevalent portal component model,” says Gartner.
Gartner mentioned that the state of the portal market is changing rapidly due to, “consumerization and social, mobile and cloud trends, as well as technical advances.” The good news is that many portals that have more or less lain stagnant within companies are now being spurred into action by consumer demand for their services. Greater expectations by consumers for services that are, “highly personalized, engaging, social, accessible, mobile, easy-to-use and synchronized across a wide range of channels,” are forcing the industry to re-evaluate their portal solutions.
Furthermore, Gartner states: “Many organizations want lean portals: simple, more cost effective products that focus on the portal’s primary proposition and provide a personalized point of access to relevant information, business processes and people.”
This all fits with what Backbase has been seeing in the market and bodes well for our modern, lean, widget-based architecture and our ability to bring power to the business by giving them complete control of the customer’s online journey.
