Backbase Portal’s popular widget-based, lean portal for medium to large enterprises has been placed in Gartner’s visionary quadrant for the third year running.

In the much-anticipated Magic Quadrant for Horizontal Portals 2013 report from Gartner, released earlier this week, Backbase has taken a large leap ahead of other vendors to become the most ‘Visionary’ portal provider in the quadrant. Gartner defines visionary as having a “firm grasp of emerging customer needs and potential impact of new technologies.” You can read all about the criteria and Backbase Portal’s performance in the full report, available exclusively here.

“Backbase has made a fantastic jump forward in Gartner’s estimation, according to both ‘product vision’ and ‘ability to execute’ criteria. This is the 3rd year running that we’ve moved deeper into Gartner’s Visionary quadrant, which clearly demonstrates that we are more than capable of challenging the mega-portal vendors,” said Jouk Pleiter, CEO & Co-Founder of Backbase. “We are happy to see that Gartner recognizes our hard work and the progress we have made. We will continue to make our customers successful, and expand our product’s strength in the areas of cross-device mobile delivery; closed loop marketing; and above all fast-time-to-market.”

Backbase Portal has an incredibly strong focus on user experience (UX) and a commitment to delivering a comprehensive customer experience platform. It is recognized as one of the leading lean portal vendors because of its highly flexible and modular widget-based architecture. Widgets are essentially mini, autonomous apps that deliver a truly customer-centric experience that is completely personizable for end-customers. Backbase Portal helps organizations upgrade their online channel to meet their customers’ Web 2.0 expectations by deploying a totally new user experience layer over the underlying IT infrastructure and systems. Backbase provides a single platform that can be used across multiple channels, including online, call center, branch, and devices such as regular desktop computers, tablets, and smart phones.
