I joined Backbase in July 2024 as an AI Engineer on the AI team. Four months prior, I came across the job posting for this role on LinkedIn, and it immediately captured my attention. The job description perfectly aligned with my professional interests and career aspirations, emphasizing the opportunity to work on innovative projects in the AI domain. As I delved deeper into researching Backbase, I was thoroughly impressed by the company's strong reputation and its forward-thinking approach to technology. I am part of the AI team in Vietnam, working as an AI Engineer. My primary responsibility is to implement AI-driven solutions aimed at transforming the banking experience and maximizing customer lifetime value. Seeing how our AI products reshape the way people interact with financial services is incredibly rewarding. However, the role also presents significant challenges. One of the toughest aspects is managing the fast-paced nature of our four-day sprint cycles, which demand the delivery of new features weekly. This high-intensity environment requires unwavering focus and efficiency, pushing me to consistently produce high-quality output under tight deadlines.

As an AI Engineer, I have access to a wealth of resources and cutting-edge tools that help me grow and excel in my role. The vast amount of learning materials available online is a great starting point, but the real growth comes from applying emerging concepts and technologies in practical scenarios. For example, I've had the opportunity to explore advanced topics like LLMOps, experiment with tools such as LangFuse, and build intelligent agents using frameworks like LangGraph. These experiences have deepened my understanding of AI systems and how to design and optimize them for real-world applications. Additionally, my role at Backbase has provided invaluable hands-on experience with DevOps practices—an area where I had limited prior exposure. Working with tools like SonarCloud for maintaining code quality and GitHub Actions for automating workflows has been transformative. These tools have helped me appreciate the critical importance of seamless integration and deployment processes in the AI development lifecycle.
